Speaking From Experience//Concept Sheet

What Problem Have you Identified?
The problem I have identified is that people get too stressed about the workload which is sometimes unnecessary. Becoming too stressed is not healthy and it is important to find a balance between work and socializing in the first year of this Graphic Design course.

Why is it important?
1. It can cause unnecessary stress.
2. It may have an effect on the quality of work produced.
3. It may cause an illness and time off which will cause more stress.
4. It may cause you to be more uptight and less easy going.
5. You might end up missing out on things.

What do you intend to do about it?
1. Inform people of what stress can cause.
2. Express how you need to find a balance between work and play.
3. Show things you can do daily to relieve stress.
4. Entertain people make them laugh to release stress.
5. Using something fun and less serious to get the message across.

What do you hope to achieve by doing this?
To encourage people to not take things so seriously and to create a healthy balance of work and play in their life. it is important to know when apply the right amount of pressure but to also put things into perspective and not to get worked up over small things.

What do you already know about the problem?
1. That even though the course is demanding, their is still some time to do things outside the course.
2. That you can just as good grades and put in the effort without getting over panicked and stressed. You just need to plan.
3. It is important that people remember what is really important.
4. You are more likely to succeed if you are having fun with what you are doing and don't feel negative about it.
5. It is important to not get caught up in things that don't matter.

What do you need to find out about the problem?
1. Some facts and statistics about stress in students.
2. The timetable of people on the course-seeing how much time they spend working and socializing.
3. How stressed people get-can it cause over stress? Even illness?

Speaking From Experience//Rationale

I intend to entertain and inform a group of first year students on Graphic Design who may not cope with stress well and find it hard to balance the demanding workload whilst still having a fun university experience. The message I am going to communicate is to not take life or yourself too seriously. I want to express that their is no point worrying over small things as becoming over stressed will not help, if anything it will probably make it worse. As a first year it is important to meet new people within your new environment therefore I want to create something fun and social that will communicate my message. In order to achieve this I want to create design events that will bring people off the course together to discuss design in a fun, practical, laid back way.
