Who are you?

- Where are you from? Tell us about it?

I'm from The Cotswolds. It is very pretty but also quiet!

- What is your earliest memory?

I remember going to the hospital when my younger brother was born. My dad bought me a can of coke and I got really hyper.

- Which living person do you most admire and why?
Probably my dad. He is very influential to me in terms of design and he always know exactly what to say.

- Cat, Dog or other? Tell us why?

Neither as I am very allergic to both cats and dogs.

- Where would you like to live? Why? What would you do if you lived there?

I would like to live in Cornwall at one point in my life as I love the sea. I want to be able to surf while also design. Somewhere like St Ives is very influential in terms of art and I would love to live there. I like how detached it is and how calm and chilled out.

- What would your super power be? What would you use it for?

I would love to be able to turn back time and change things from the past. Or even just relive the best bits of my life!

- If you could bring something extinct back to life, what would you choose? Why?
Um I don't think I would like to bring back anything extinct for good, but I would love to see a dinosaur!

- What is your most unappealing habit?
I suck my thumb when I am tired. Which isn't exactly a habit that a twenty year old should have.

- What is your favourite word? Why?

I say the word 'like' far too often. I don't know why really.

- What is your favourite book? What do you like about it?

I really like the Dan Brown books, in particularly 'Angels and demons'. I love the mystery factor and how addictive it is!

- What four people would you invite to your dream dinner party? Why?

I would have to invite Russell Brand to provide the comedy. Kelly slater and he is my favourite surfer, Yulia Brodskaya to teach me how to improve my design and finally probably Steve Jobs just to him ask hundred and one questions.

- If you could edit your past? What would you change? Why?

I would thing again which people I can actually trust. I would also go back and make myself do more work and stop being so lazy! Also I wish I didn't worry about stupid little things that don't even matter anymore.

- If you could go back in time, where would you go? What would you do while you were there?

I would go travelling to see more of the world and have a more open minded and optimistic view on life. I would like to go to Australia, Hawaii, Japan and India.

- What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Probably getting into uni to be honest.

- Tell us a joke?

Why don´t you see Penguins in Britain?
 Because they´re afraid of Wales.

- Tell us a secret

Now that would be telling.

Task 4-Interim Evaluation

10 Things I have learned professionally

1. I have learned how to use new software. Before I started this course I had little knowledge of using multiple design programmes. After the tutorials and experimenting I feel more confident in using programmes such as adobe illustrator, photoshop and indesign.

2. Before I started this course I had never used a blog, so for me this was a very new and different way in documenting my work. I think I have grasped the concept well and really enjoy this process.

3. Since being introduced to my blog group I have learned to work well within a group. I enjoy working with different people and learning things of others.

4. Experiencing different types of crits on a regular basis has introduced me to various ways of gaining the most from receiving criticism about my work. Vice versa, I think I have also become better and more confident in talking about other peoples work.

5. Colour theory is something that I have never looked at in so much detail before. I never thought I would really understand the more technical parts of it, however just by it being taught in various practical ways, I already feel more educated on the subject.

6.  I think the way I evaluate my work has changed. This was and still something that I find quite hard however I think I am becoming better and being specific when talking about my work.

7. Measuring type is something that was very new to me. I thought it would be quite complex but I really enjoyed the workshops that we had on it. Even though I don't always get the correct measurement first time, I didn't even have a clue of the process before, so that in itself is an achievement.

8. Learning about the history within different areas of art has been a real insight for me. I have particularly enjoyed learning about the history of graphic design. I find it really interesting and useful when considering things in context.

9. Knowing what type of design I like has definitely become more obvious to me. I think it is Jo's tasks that has really bought attention to this. I have realise what sort of aesthetics and what format I find the most appealing and inspiring.

10. Research is something that to be honest I always least enjoyed and often didn't put in as much effort in as I could have. However, after completing the module of 'design process', I have learned that the research is so important and really determines the reliability and validity of the end design.

10 Things I have learned Personally

1. Living on my own is something that I had never done before I started this course. Learning to properly cook for myself is something that I never thought would happen. But I actually enjoy it. Living with new people is also something that I think I have adapted well to.

2. As the months have gone on I think I have finally become more successful when it comes to budgeting money. At the beginning of term I wasn't that great but now I have lived in Leeds for a bit I now know the best way to make my money go further. However, remembering to save money for printing is something I need to get used to.

3. Learning how to manage my time and prioritize my work is something that in this course I think is crucial. This is something I want to improve, although I am organised I often don't prioritize that well and the things that I have had to do for a while get lost.

4. Balancing work with socializing is an area that I feel I have controlled so far. I think it is important to work hard but also ensure you aren't missing out on socializing. I get on well with the people on the course therefore this motivates me to be there.

5. Communicating with peers is something that I think I have become more confident in. I am now more likely to ask others for advice and vice versa.

6.As I have grown in confidence talking in public is something that has improved. Even though I can still be quite shy and unsure of myself when speaking, it is now less intimidating and nerve-racking. This is an area in which I really want to be good at.

7. I thought I would find the workload difficult and at sometimes I do. But i find it stimulating and motivating more than anything. I really enjoy being in college five days a week. I have learned that I definitely work better within a working environment than sitting at home.

8. I think have picked up some new organisation skills. Even if they are just small ones like writing lists and getting a watch. Being organized makes me feel more in control of the situation.

9. As I have learned so many things since coming to university it has encouraged me to learn more. I really want to do some screen printing soon as it is something that I think I would enjoy both the process of and the the outcome.

10. I have mainly learned since living in Leeds that I can be very independent. I feel more more sure of myself now and am really enjoying my course and university life in general.

End of module self evaluation

Self-Evaluation

1.  What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
They way I approach researching has definitely changed and developed. I have learned the skill of identifying quantitative and qualitative research methods in both context of primary and secondary research.  A skill that has also been improved is the way of categorizing information and seeing a clear and direct change when a new direction has been chosen. I think I have applied them quite well but I definitely could have done it more effectively. However, I still feel like I have learned something new and will continue to apply these skills and approaches hopefully more successfully in future projects.

 2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?
The approach and perspective of this project has been different to any one I have done before. The time spent on research gave me the chance to not just go with the first design idea that came into my head. I started of with a broad subject then made it more specific as research went on. Therefore when it actually came to the design process I went down a path that I definitely couldn't of seen myself doing at the beginning. Even though may products could have been improved, I feel as though I recognized the timescale I had left and acted upon it. I wanted my products to work as a set therefore produced what I did. I think sometimes it is better when you don't have as much time to design something as long as you have the research and development to help you make quick but correct decisions.

3.. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?
I think that considering I was struggling at first to find a correct format to communicate my problem on, I actually eventually found an effective way to present it to the public. Even though it was simple I think it got straight to the point and didn't cause too much ambiguity. I also thought that my series of ten products worked really well as a set. I think the more illustration feel I went for worked really well and was something different to phone packaging that is currently out there, which was what I was trying to do. In terms of actually informing people about the research I found, I think I achieved this. Even though I probably should have experimented with different products, I am glad I didn't go down the poster or flyer route, as I have created something that I wouldn't normally hav done. So for me, a strength from this project, is attempting different types of design.  I really liked the aesthetics of my project in the end.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?
I think my time management could be classed as a weakness. I think some of my work does represent this on some occasions.
. Even though I did see the benefits of not spending too much time on one design, I also think I could have improved mine much more. After feedback from the crit, things were suggested that I agree with. I could of experimented more with possible outcomes in terms of products. In the future I will spend more time weighing up the pros and cons of each design to help me make a better decision. When it comes to the actually printing of my designs I need to make sure I pick an appropriate stock. I probably could have chosen something a bit more sustainable in order to really communicate something professional and conventional looking.

 5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
Next time I will try and make sure I stick to a proper timescale in terms of balancing out research time and designing time. This will hopefully give me a more reliable and valid outcome. Also now I have seen a different approach to a project I can take what I have learned and apply it to the next one. I think I will experiment more with different outcomes of design as I really enjoyed the construction side of my products which isn't something I often do. Hopefully by doing this I will broaden my knowledge of design and it will also test my composition and printing skills. Next time I would really like to do some screen-printing, as I would definitely benefit from this. It will give me a new skill and give me some different style of work outcomes. Also the actually process is much more traditional and I think it would be a fun thing to do. Lastly, I think I would try and do more primary research because I think it is more beneficial. I would like to take a more practical approach to it and have something creative a response, rather than just writing and images. For this project I have so many ideas for primary research but because of time management, I did not get around to doing all of them.

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas:

Attendance- 4
Punctuality- 3
Motivation- 2
Commitment- 2
Quantity of work produced- 2
Quality of work produced- 2
